James “Poncho” Toombs III

My name is James "Poncho" Toombs III, and I am a full-time missionary working with an organization called "Circuit Riders" in Huntington Beach, California. Circuit Riders is a movement that focuses on recruiting, training, and sending young leaders to go and preach the gospel on high school and college campuses. I am a leader with three different organizations: Circuit Riders for Jesus Clubs on high school campuses, Black Voices Movement on Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and Carry The Love to college campuses, field, and festival gatherings to nations around the world. 

I lead outreaches for Black Voices Movement to Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Less than 1% of American missions are represented by African Americans. The Black Voices Movement exists to reach and empower black Gen-Z with the gospel, so we can see a multiethnic mission movement. Recently, we gathered over 3,000 young adults and youth and saw over 300 commitments to follow Jesus in six weeks. 

I lead evangelism and outreaches for Carry The Love. During evangelism and outreaches, we reach College students with the Gospel, Train students to share the Gospel, and provide resources for students through online platforms. Over 95% of the average college campus is unengaged in the Christian community. Each year over 10,000 students are engaged through a six-eight week outreach called Carry The Love Tour to universities.

I lead outreaches to high school campuses in our expression called Jesus Clubs. There are 15.1 million High School students in America and 24,000 Public High Schools, yet only 20% of high schools have an active Christian group on campus. Every week on local high school campuses, we are gathering youth and seeing them make commitments for Christ.
